My mom played the Vividh Bharati regularly when I was a child and the melodious tunes still bring out a happy cheer in me. This is partly attributed to the sultry atmosphere inside the auditoriums, most of which are not air-conditioned, a situation that is unenviable in a town known for its intense heat except during the winter.
